organized, feminine desks

Saturday, November 13, 2010

This week I got a bit inspired and decided to make myself some cute headbands. Right now I'm trying to decide on a few styles, then I might sew a big batch of them and open a little Etsy shop for my headbands.

In the meantime, I made quite a mess due to all the sewing I did, what with beads, thread, needles, velvet, elastic, etc everywhere. So I took some time to completely clean my desk and reorganize it to accommodate my new love. I'll post photos once I'm all done with my new organizing project, but in the meantime I wanted to share some of my inspiration images with you.

Some important aspects I'm focusing on:
room on my desk for a mug of coffee or tea at all times
inspirational photos and prints on the wall
organized storage for pens and scissors on my desk top
a clean, open, light work space
and very importantly, a feminine color scheme
(living with Jordan means I can't have pink sheets or excessive amounts of floral prints all over our apartment and part of me misses that girly decor. my work space is the one area that I can make as flowery and pink as I want.)

Do you have a gorgeous desk area? If so, email me pictures! I'd love to feature more beautiful work spaces on my blog in the future.

Update: Sorry I forgot to provide image credit! Here it is: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

  3. It's a sweet work space. I have two of those white lettered mugs from Anthropologie, one from which I'm drinking coffee at this moment. AND I have the "C" and the "V". How 'bout that? :) Great minds think alike!

  6. I'm in the process (and a slow process at that!) of creating my personal workspace as well. I got the desk ($10 off Craigslist, woo!), a candle, a photo, bill paying area and coaster for a cup of coffee (like you, I tend to have one there at all times). My only issue is that my walls are concrete, making it very hard to hang anything. I have a wall sticker that says "live laugh love" but I want to hang some photos and...can't. So frustrating.

Alright, this comment was a lot longer than I intended it to be. Good luck with your space!

  7. Oh I wish! The office in our house is boyfriend's space, and it's rather... manly. I use it sometimes, but the only thing in there that screams me is my ancient bookcase and my books.

That's my one regret from house shopping... not getting a house with a cozy spot for my desk (which I don't even own).

Well, that and not insisting on a walk-in closet...

  9. I love the third picture down. The desk is so cute and it's in such a tight fit that it would be the perfect place for me to study because of how private it looks. :) Found my inspiration! Hehe.

  10. I've got two desks: the art desk, and the computer desk. The computer desk is an old "writing" desk with curved legs and bookshelves underneath. It's so beautiful. And on the art desk I have things organized in little porcelain pitchers and floral tins... yep, totally girly!

  16. I never have room on my desk :/ My room in my apartment is so small!!! It's always cluttered, it makes me less organized.

  17. When I get into my new place I will have a simple white desk but I will make the top all organized and girly. I love the coffee mugs with the letters!! I saw them recently in Anthropologie. I will get them eventually!! =)
