day one of painting the new house

Jordan and I had such a busy day today! We're finally getting a chance to patch up the eight million (more or less) holes and weird patchwork that the previous owners left in the walls. We had to wait to paint until we got that work done, so I finally got to paint my first wall today.
If you follow me on Pinterest, you've probably seen my unending love for bright white interiors. Well, that's what I imagine for our house. We already have a beautiful white fireplace, so today we painted the whole wall around it, which stretches through our dining and living rooms, the most crisp white paint color I could find.
Of course, as soon as we finished painting, I decided that the white of the wall didn't look good with the slightly different white of the fireplace, so we'll be painting over it tomorrow. That wall will instead be a dark blue, which should contrast amazingly with the white bricks and mantle. The rest of the house will still be white, with probably a few more colorful accent walls, like in the laundry room and main bath.
Oh, and clearly the kitties were helpful today. They slept on my freshly washed bedding, rolling on the piles of clean laundry. That's what I get for not putting away laundry the second it's dry. At least they're getting along enough to sleep on the bed together, I guess.
P.S. See that beautiful quilt? Jordan's mom made it for me for Christmas! It's light enough that it could be a throw for the couch, but I love it so much that I put in on the bed. Thank you, Sheila!!!

Can't wait to see some finished pictures of your house! Someday I hope to have a little fixer-upper, just so I can feel some pride in making something pretty and new and making it my own! Good luck with all of your renovations and improvements! :)
look how cute you look while you're painting! cutest painter ever, i'd say.

That's so exciting! I'm gathering inspiration for my new room (we're moving at the end of 2012) and so far white + a pop of colour is definitely high on my lust list.
i love the look of clean, white walls but i don't think i'd ever be able to do it in my own house. the ocd in me would be constantly searching for and scrubbing any tiny mark, haha.
My cats do that too! If I leave my laundry out for just a few minutes they are all over it. :)
Very helpful kitties you have there!! Mine both lay on my bed all day yesterday helping me with my homework. I was actually kind of amazed that they were getting along so well! Lol.
I can't wait to see your blue wall around the white fireplace. That should look pretty good, I think!
Dark blue beside white bricks? Sounds absolutely perfect!
Painting is so much fun! Can't wait to see how it turned out!
