Crazy Cat People

Thursday, May 31, 2012

Let's be honest, you knew this was coming. Of course we've become those people who put their cats on a leash and harness and walk them around the backyard.

In my defense, we bought Cubby the pretty pink set when we found out we were moving to Idaho. I thought 9 straight hours in the car sounded like the worst day ever for my little cat, so I wanted to let her walk around on the grass when we stopped for gas. That never happened, because she hated it too much.

But suddenly, now that we have this huge yard, the cats do nothing all day but sit in the window and meow pathetically at us when we go outside. Sadly, we've heard horror stories from people here that some guys like to shoot cats wandering through town, so we're not ever going to let our kitties out on their own. That's where the leash and harness comes in. Both cats have gotten used to it, once they realized it was the only way they'd get outside, so it looks like we're going to need to buy a second set soon so both of these wild animals can be outside at once.

I can't even imagine what the neighbors think of us.

  1. i most definitely used to do this with my guinea pigs when i was younger.

i think you're still considered sane as long as you don't go taking them around the neighbourhood, haha. :)

  4. Oh man, I'm totally a cat lady too. I take Lux outside on her leash and sometimes put her in my bag when we are running errands or going to get ice cream - she loves going on adventures and people love petting her :)

  5. We used to do that with our cat when I was younger. And then he grew into a mountain lion, basically, and we decided to just let him out without the leash. No horrible cat shooters around us, though.
