This fire burned on the edge of our town of Soda Springs today. It started sometime in the afternoon, but Jordan is working nights this week so neither of us left the house enough to see it until 5:00. Jordan had to go to work, so I had to spend a very anxious evening at the house by myself.
Rather than just sit here and wonder what was happening with the fire, especially since our town is too small to even have a news site, I drove to one of the roads that runs parallel to the hill that was burning. About half the town had the same idea because there were quite a few of us parked along the road. The scariest part is that our town is really small, about 3,000 people, so if the fire is on the edge of town, it's really not very far from all of our houses.
Finally, right at dusk the fire was contained and then put out. As far as I've heard, no one who lives on that edge of our little town lost any homes, which is wonderful. Let's pray that this is our only fire scare for the summer.

how scary! So glad things were contained...fires have been rampant this summer.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear it was contained. The fires have no heart. They'll just consume anything in its path. This is a scary time of year!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad everyone is safe. That's very scary. These pictures have a beautiful, eery tone.
ReplyDeleteGlad they were able to contain it. It's surreal that your town consists of 3,000 people as my high school had that many kids. It must be nice to live in a small town, your view must be amazing. Those photos really captured the moment you even got the helicopter flying toward it!
ReplyDeleteAmazing shots. Glad everyone is ok.

Thank goodness it was put out! I went through fires when I lived in San Diego -- soooo scary!!! I had to go to Mexico to get away from them!
